JESS AND RYAN

I met Jess and Ryan around eighteen months before their wedding day at their venue, Beeston Manor. As soon as I met them, I knew they were my clients and I had to be involved in their day. Jess with her red hair, freckles and general autumnal-ness (is that a word?!) explained her ideas for her autumn inspired wedding and I was hooked. When she later explained that Teresa C Photography had been booked to take their photographs I knew this was my job!

Jess first of all explained that she wanted pumpkins. Lots of pumpkins. Different tones of orange, gold, copper and with flowers. Whilst I got excited and ideas started flying through my head (mainly involving how on earth am I going to dig out the seeds and flesh of umpteen pumpkins!?), Ryan wasn’t too sure and I knew he would need convincing!! Cue lots of planning, research, material sourcing over the next few months.

Then the big day came. All of a sudden. And I was setting up her gorgeous pumpkins for the table centrepieces, some lovely rustic floral log designs along the top table and her beautiful suspended chandelier design in the stonewalled room with panoramic views across gorgeous countryside. It was a windy day, well it was autumn and as Jess said, “I dont really do sunshine”. Perfect!

Jess’ bridal bouquet and her bridesmaids bouquets contained lots of bright and vibrant colours. Oranges, greens, dark reds, blousy roses, lots of texture with Astilbe and Pampas and accented by autumnal shaded silk velvet ribbons. It fit her brief to a tee, I was proud as punch passing it to her on her day. The centrepieces contained similar materials, with the suspended chandelier design having plenty of foliage and some hanging berry shaded Amaranthus.

During conversations up to the wedding day, I learnt that Jess and I had a lot in common, a mutual love for Arctic Monkeys being a highlight for me. I loved to get to know them both, as I do all of my clients. Jess and Ryan’s wedding will truly be one of the highlights of my career, not only for the florals and foliage but for just going to show that being your wedding florist is not just providing the materials. I provide the support, a shoulder to lean on and other general niceties. What a job eh? - I pinch myself every morning….
